JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua, Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun said that Gender Development and the Gender Empowerment Index in Papua have changed even though they have not developed significantly yet.
This is marked by the representation of women in the public, political and economic which indirectly encourages the acceleration of improving the quality of life of women and children.
"We continue to try to maximize the quality of life of women and children. Both through related technical agencies and partners, one of which is the existence of the Women's Working Group representation in MRP."
"We hope this activity will be a forum for exchanging strategic information for PPPA and MRP stakeholders. So that it can improve policies and programs that are in favor of PPPA throughout the Land of Papua," he said at the Strengthening the Role of the Papuan People's Assembly Women's Working Group in the Development of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.
The activity, which took place at one of the hotels in Jayapura City, was attended by the Minister of PPPA, Bintang Puspayoga, Monday (22/7/2024).
Meanwhile, another important thing that is being sought to encourage gender empowerment by the Papua Provincial Government is the appointment of members of the Regency/City People's Representative Council (DPRK).
As stipulated in the Election Law regarding 30 percent of the female quota and Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 2 of 2024.
"I have emphasized to the organizing institutions and all components involved to provide space and access for women."
"Because of the representation of the people, I hope that the relevant parties will participate in escorting and monitoring and ensuring the involvement of women at every stage which will be determined shortly," he said. ***
