JAYAPURA - The Papua Communication and Informatics Service as a technical agency supporting technology plays an active role in building Bring Village as an Independent Economic Village in Jayapura Regency by providing digital infrastructure support (free internet connection) for residents.
Digital infrastructure support in the form of Leo Starlink VSAT was handed over to local village officials during the visit of the Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, when launching Bring Village as a Pilot Project for economically independent villages, Friday (13/9/2024).
Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Office, Jeri A. Yudianto, said that in several places in remote areas, his agency has prepared Vsat as a free internet backbone that can be enjoyed by local residents according to its coverage or range.
"We provide Vsat Starlink which is quite practical and economical equipped with 1 access point to expand its range."
"Vsat was installed 1 month ago, as seen from the user traffic of around 30 - 50 users every day. It is hoped that users who receive the benefits of this free internet will be used to increase literacy and positive and productive things," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the maintenance of facilities, Jeri added that the Communication and Informatics Service of Papua will collaborate with the local government through capacity building in the form of digital literacy related to the information technology ecosystem. ***
