JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government encourages stakeholders to participate in growing, developing and cultivating literacy.
This is to encourage basic literacy in Papua Province by 47.57 percent, which is in the low category.
"Therefore, it is hoped there will be coordination and consolidation from all stakeholders."
"So, we hope that the results of dissemination can be immediately integrated into planning documents and budgeted in the regional budget and ensure in thedocument of Regional Development Plan," said Assistant for General Affairs of the Papua Regional Secretary Derek Hegemur at the dissemination of the roadmap for basic literacy culture for 2025-2029, Monday, in Jayapura.
According to him, based on the results of the literacy and numeracy education report issued by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and Technology, Papua Province is currently still below 50 percent.
"For this reason, the dissemination of the literacy culture roadmap is important to strengthen the synergy between the main units of literacy movement actors by gathering all potentials," he said.
Derek added the results of the roadmap dissemination for basic literacy culture discussed will later be a reference for the Provincial and Regency/City Governments in compiling programs and strengthening the culture of Basic Literacy.
"Therefore, the involvement of all parties in supporting the strengthening of literacy in their areas is important," he said. ***
