JAYAPURA - The Papua Provincial Government guarantees staple food availability in Jayapura City and its surroundings, enough for the 2024 Christmas and New Year 2025 celebrations.
The Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, said this after conducting a surprise inspection of traditional markets and distributor warehouses on Friday (6/12/2024).
Through the inspection, it was also known that the stock of rice, cooking oil and sugar was quite available for the residents of Papua who celebrated Christmas.
"We have checked at Hamadi Market and several distributor warehouses, the stock is enough for the next two months," he said.
Meanwhile, the supply of local commodities is also ensured to be quite available, including shallots, tomatoes and chilies.
"Tomatoes that have affected inflation, now have enough stock, from Arso, Keerom Regency," he said.
Governor Ramses ensured the price of food commodities was monitored and stable. His party will also continue to conduct supervision in the field to ensure that it does not jump significantly.
"At the Hamadi Market, the price is still stable, even if the price rises, it is still normal in the range of IDR 5,000. Well, hopefully, there will be no price fluctuations, but we predict that it will remain stable until Christmas and New Year," he said.
"The price of meat has also not risen too much, while the price of broiler chicken is still normal in the range of IDR 50,000-60,000. The point is that it is still affordable, we will continue to control it so that the price does not rise significantly," he said. ***
