JAYAPURA—The Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, encouraged the acceleration of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in three regions: Keerom Regency, Jayapura Regency, and Jayapura City. This program is expected to run soon.
"I ask the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) so that this month or next month the MBG program can start in the three regions. We will encourage it to be executed immediately," said Ramses in Jayapura, Tuesday (12/2).
Ramses revealed that in recent weeks, his party has discussed with BGN to implement this program in Papua. One of the points discussed was using local wisdom to provide nutritious food for the community.
"So, the nutrition is still fulfilled with local food. For distribution, it can involve churches, MSMEs, or other institutions. Technically, it will be regulated by BGN," he added.
According to Ramses, the Papua Provincial Government is committed to fully supporting the MBG program. Previously, several trials had been carried out to provide free nutritious food in several regions in Papua, as part of preparations for wider implementation.
"This program has not run simultaneously 100 percent in Indonesia. However, the Papua Provincial Government and the regency/city government are ready to make this program a success for the welfare of the community," he concluded. ***
