JAYAPURA – The open selection stage for filling the Primary High Leadership Position (JPT) within the Papua Provincial Government has been completed. The results of this selection are immediately reported to the central government for approval.
The Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, revealed that he had received the selection results. "Only then will the best be chosen from the good," said Ramses on Friday (14/2/2025).
In this process, Ramses will propose three names for each Regional Apparatus Work Unit (SKPD). 66 participants in the selection competed to fill 17 positions that were still vacant.
"I propose three names, if approved, it will be determined who is the best among them. This means that the three proposed candidates have met the criteria to occupy the position," said Ramses.
Ramses also explained that this selection process must continue because it has used the state budget. He assessed that there would be accountability if the process was stopped. "Why do we continue? Because this selection uses the state budget," he said.
Currently, there are around 33 positions out of 40 Regional Apparatus Works are still vacant, even some positions have not been filled definitively for a long time. "There are positions that have been vacant for more than five years, then some have served for ten years. This is certainly not effective for an organization," he said.
"There must be a refreshment, but let it be the policy of the elected governor," explained Ramses. Ramses emphasized the importance of certainty for civil servants who have only been in the status of Acting on Duty. According to him, it impacts the effectiveness of work and career certainty of civil servants. "If they are only Acting on Duty, their duties cannot be maximized, and they also do not have career certainty. This is what we want to overcome," he added.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Papua Regional Civil Service Agency, Jackson Elabi, stated that the election results had been reported to the governor. "The task of the committee has been completed. Now it's just a matter of waiting for a decision from the leadership," said Jackson. He hopes that through this selection, the Papua Provincial Government will get Regional Apparatus Work Unit leaders who have capabilities and competencies according to their fields. Thus, the performance of the Papua Provincial Government can increase.
"We hope that those who are selected are the right people in their fields. So, Regional Apparatus Works can run more optimally and provide the best service to the community," he concluded. ***
