JAYAPURA– Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, stated that Papua’s economic situation is strongly influenced by its vast territory and geographical challenges, where cash remains the primary choice for daily transactions.
Therefore, according to Ramses, it is crucial to ensure the availability of proper currency circulation across all regions, both in urban and remote areas.
"People must be wise in spending and responsible in preparing for the Eid al-Fitr celebration," said Governor Ramses.
He emphasized the importance of preserving and respecting the rupiah as a symbol of national sovereignty while fostering awareness to appreciate, take pride in, and understand the national currency.
"In addition, we encourage the public to prioritize non-cash payment methods in daily transactions as part of the effort to support the digitalization of the payment system in Papua," he added.
The public is also advised to use the money exchange services provided by Bank Indonesia and other banking institutions in an orderly manner and according to their needs.
Meanwhile, Ramses highlighted that economic growth is supported by several key sectors, including consumer purchasing power, trade sector growth, and household consumption.
"However, to ensure stable stock availability and prevent inflation, collaboration and coordination among all stakeholders through joint market operations are essential," he concluded. ***
