JAYAPURA– To maintain price stability during Ramadan and ahead of Eid, the Papua Provincial Government will hold an affordable food initiative at three locations in Jayapura City.
The first location will be at Baiturahim Mosque, Jayapura, on March 19, followed by Baitul-Makmur Mosque in Perumnas 1 Waena, and concluding at PTC Entrop on March 22.
The initiative will offer essential goods, including rice, cooking oil, granulated sugar, red onions, garlic, eggs, various canned drinks, and other staple foods.
The Head of Public Information Management at the Papua Communications and Information Office, M. Anshar Irianto, stated that the prices of goods sold in this initiative will be lower than market prices.
“The prices here are cheaper than those in the market,” said Anshar.
He explained that cheap markets are one of the strategies to curb inflation in Papua while also regulating prices ahead of major national religious holidays (HBKN), which often see price surges.
In addition to the affordable food initiative, the Papua Provincial Government will also conduct market operations in several areas.
“These operations aim to assess the readiness of distribution and commodity stock, both in preparation for and after major national religious holidays,” he concluded. ***
