JAYAPURA – Ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays, Jayapura Regional General Hospital (RSUD Jayapura) has ensured that all health services are on standby. This preparedness includes medical services, the availability of healthcare personnel, as well as facilities and infrastructure.
Acting Director of Jayapura Regional General Hospital Andreas Pekey, stated that the hospital has held internal meetings to finalize preparations for services during the Christmas and New Year period. This measure was taken to anticipate a potential increase in the number of patients.
“During the Christmas and New Year period, many community health centers do not operate optimally. As a result, patients are directly referred to the Emergency Department of Jayapura Regional General Hospital,” he said.
To address the potential surge, Jayapura Regional General Hospital has implemented various anticipatory measures.
“In addition, the readiness of facilities and infrastructure is also a major focus,” he added.
He further explained that the hospital has increased the number of patient beds to anticipate a rise in inpatient admissions, in line with the increase in illness cases during the year-end holiday period.
“This capacity adjustment is expected to accommodate patient needs, especially for common illness cases that require medical treatment,” he concluded. ***
