JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government continues to strengthen regional inflation control measures through the active involvement of regency and municipal governments.
Head of the Papua Provincial Secretariat's Bureau of Economic Affairs and Development Administration, Andry, said the Governor of Papua had issued a circular to all regents and mayors to support concrete inflation control measures in their respective regions.
"The Governor of Papua has issued a circular to all regents and mayors to support and ensure concrete efforts to control inflation," he said.
He explained that the circular was issued as part of efforts to maintain price stability and ensure the availability of necessities across Papua.
In the circular, regency and municipal governments are asked to support the implementation of six concrete inflation control measures.
The first measure is to conduct affordable market operations regularly to maintain the affordability of basic goods for the public.
Second, to conduct unannounced inspections at markets and distributors to ensure supply availability and prevent stockpiling.
Third, to strengthen interregional cooperation and ensure the smooth distribution of strategic food commodities.
Fourth, to promote planting movements by utilizing home yards, farmer groups, and strengthening local food resources.
Fifth, to optimize the realization of unexpected expenditure funds and regional budget support for inflation control interventions in accordance with applicable regulations.
Meanwhile, the sixth measure is to hold regular Regional Inflation Control Team meetings and continuously follow up on the outcomes.
The Papua Provincial Government hopes these measures will help maintain the stability of basic commodity prices while strengthening regional food resilience amid national economic dynamics. ***
