JAYAPURA — Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri officially sent off the Papua delegation of the 8th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) of the Corps of Civil Servants of the Republic of Indonesia (Korpri), which will participate in the national-level MTQ Korpri competition in South Sulawesi.
The send-off ceremony was held at the Papua Governor's Office Hall in Jayapura City on Wednesday (August 19, 2026). This year, Papua is sending seven participants to compete in seven categories at the event, which will be held in Makassar City and Pangkep Regency from August 21 to 30, 2026.
“On behalf of the Papua Provincial Government, I would like to express my appreciation and recognition to Korpri, the coaches, mentors, officials, and all participants who have prepared themselves wholeheartedly to uphold the good name of Papua Province,” Fakhiri said.
He said participation in the Korpri MTQ is not merely about pursuing achievements. The event is also an important part of fostering the spiritual development of civil servants while strengthening integrity, exemplary conduct, discipline, and a spirit of service to the community, nation, and state.
Fakhiri urged the participants to compete with confidence and give their best.
“Go there to win in faith, and return carrying hope to be shared with all Muslim civil servants in Papua Province,” he said.
The 2026 national-level MTQ Korpri is being attended by 76 ministries and institutions and 38 provinces. Fakhiri said the event provides an opportunity for Papua's civil servants to demonstrate not only their abilities but also their character and integrity.
“Protect the good name of Papua. Show courtesy, discipline, humility, and uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship,” he advised.
He also encouraged the participants to build friendships, broaden their experience, and view the competition as an opportunity to learn and strengthen brotherhood.
“You are not merely representing yourselves. You are Ambassadors of Papua's Civil Servants. Wherever you are, show the face of Papua as courteous, open, accomplished, and full of brotherhood,” he said.
Fakhiri expressed hope that the participants would maintain their health and solidarity and be able to bring the positive values gained from the MTQ into their duties as civil servants.
“Papua can, Papua is great, Papua's civil servants are people of integrity and achievement,” he said. ***
