Jayapura – Acting Governor of Papua Ramses Limbong met with the local General Election Commission (KPU) at a hotel in Jayapura City, Monday (25/11/2024).
Accompanied by the Regional Leadership Communication Forum and the Head of the Regional Apparatus Organization of Papua, the meeting was held in the context of a coordination meeting on readiness for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections in the next two days.
The Acting Governor Limbong hopes that the democratic party in Papua can run well, safely and peacefully.
"The Regional Elections are only two days away, I hope that we are all responsible under our duties to make the Papua Regional Elections a success," said Ramses Limbong to Regional Leadership Communication Forum who was present at the Regional Election Preparation Coordination Meeting.
According to Ramses, the Papua KPU was asked to ensure logistics arrived at the polling station. Then, the KPU and the security forces must ensure that the logistics arrive at their place.
"We are all responsible for the success of the Regional Elections in Papua, including the police must ensure public security and order, so that people can vote according to their conscience," he said.
Ramses also asked the KPU to coordinate with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to distribute logistics to remote areas. "We need to coordinate between Regional Leadership Communication Forum, we have the responsibility to supervise so that the Papua Regional Elections run well and in an orderly manner," he said.
Ramses added that the Papua Provincial Government has also prepared a Regional Election Desk, but the most important thing is that we are all committed to making the Papua Regional Elections a success that runs smoothly. If there is a problem, it should be solved quickly.
Previously, the Papua Election Supervisory Agency mapped potential vulnerabilities in Polling Stations (TPS). 9 indicators of Polling Stations are prone to the most occurrence, 7 indicators that occur a lot, and 10 indicators that do not occur much but still need to be anticipated.
"The mapping carried out on 8 variables and 26 indicators, was taken from at least 444 villages/villages in 7 districts and 1 city (except Mamberamo Raya Regency due to internet network constraints) that reported the vulnerability of polling stations in their areas. ***
