JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government has urged the General Election Commission to ensure that the stages of the Papua Regional Election Re-vote are conducted carefully and neutrally.
Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong, emphasized that decisions must be well thought out to prevent future conflicts.
“We expect the General Election Commission to immediately finalize the re-vote schedule and issue an official decision. The process must be carried out carefully, as this situation is sensitive and could have far-reaching impacts,” said Ramses.
He added that the re-vote must adhere to regulations to avoid triggering political tensions in Papua. “This serves as a warning to prevent unnecessary issues in the future,” he stated.
Furthermore, Ramses stressed the importance of neutrality from all parties involved in organizing the re-vote, particularly the General Election Commission, the Election Supervisory Agency, and security forces.
“All parties must be responsible and neutral in carrying out their duties. There must be no interference that could worsen the situation,” Ramses said.
Meanwhile, the Papua Provincial Government has reviewed the PSU budget proposed by the General Election Commission, Election Supervisory Agency, and security forces. “The agreed-upon budget must be used efficiently and transparently,” he said. ***
