JAKARTA – Sail Teluk Cendrawasih (STC-2023), is one of the events that entered the National Tourism Calendar to introduce the nautical and maritime potential in Papua as the homepage of Indonesia in the Pacific region. STC-2023 is a joint collaboration between the Central Government coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, the Papua Provincial Government as the Implementation Assistance Team and the Regency Government as the Organizer.
STC-2023 is also one of the activities to accelerate the development of Papua Province because it is included in one of the agendas of the INPRES Action Plan Number 9 of 2020, concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua Province and West Papua Province as stated in the Regulation of the Minister of National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas Number 5 of 2021.
Phasing and Preparing for STC-2023 is included in the National Agenda and began in mid-2022 and was introduced directly to the public at the STC-2023 Launching on February 2-4, 2023 at the Sarinah Building in Jakarta.
Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan in his remarks before the launching of STC-2023, stated that it will be the 13th Sail series in Indonesia, as residents of the Land of Papua should be proud that after the implementation of Sail Raja Ampat in 2014 and PON XX in 2021, the land of Papua once again had the opportunity to display the beauty and wealth this event.
This activity will be a stage for Papua to show the spirit of unity and togetherness in developing the region through collaboration between local governments, central government, SOEs, the private sector, and the community. "The three main focuses of this activity are fisheries exports, investment, and the development of other regional potentials," he said.
Acting Governor of Papua in his report read by Acting Assistant Secretary for Economic Affairs and KESRA Suzana Wanggai, S.Pd, M.SocSc, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Central Government for paying attention to all aspects of development in Papua, including the STC-2023 Launching activities, and to the Regents who organized in this case the Regents in the Cendrawasih Bay area: Biak Regent, Waropen Regent, Yapen Islands Regent and Sarmi Regent who directly provide support in the form of their commitment to allocate the Regional Budget in the 2023 for the implementation of STC-2023.
The Papua Provincial Government is ready and conscientiously provides assistance starting from the initial process in the form of facilitation and coordination between stakeholders, stages of organizing the launching and later on each agenda of the STC-2023 event which will be held in several regions in Papua and at the peak of the event on November 1-7, 2023 in Biak Numfor Regency.
STC-2023 is a very comprehensive marine event that introduces nautical potential, tourism potential and socio-culture in Papua. It is hoped that this event can increase tourist visits and investor interest in Papua Province and the supremacy of Indonesian Maritime in the Pacific Region.
In addition to the foregoing, the report also invites all communities in Papua to make this event a success by maintaining a safe and peaceful situation in Papua, especially for people in the organizing districts to increase creativity and innovation in all respects so that this event can provide added value for economic improvement.
The launching of STC-2023 which will be held on February 2-4, 2023 at the Sarinah Building in Jakarta in addition to the ceremonial Launching event which was attended by the Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet and Echelon I and II Officials at the Central level; FORKOPIMDA, Assistant representing the Acting Governor, the heads of Working Unit of local Government (SKPD)within the Papua Provincial Government; as well as FORKOMPIMDA and Regents in the organizing districts also held MSME Exhibitions originating from the STC-2023 organizing districts, Table Talk Promotions and Investment Opportunities by the Organizing Regents and enlivened by art performances in the form of local Papuan dances and music, so that this launching agenda attracted the interest of the people in the capital to witness the unique culture of Papua, potential opportunities and businesses in Papua as well as local Papuan products. ***
