JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua Ramses Limbong was present to give direct encouragement to the athletes who will compete ahead of the closing of the XXI National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh and North Sumatra 2024.
The Governor arrived at Kualanamu Airport in Medan, Wednesday (18/9/2024), greeted by the Tor-Tor dance by the local PON committee.
Governor Limbong hopes that with the remaining time of the match, the athletes can add to the existing medals. As of September 17, 2024, Papua Province is ranked 13th with a total of 44 medals.
"The governor has set foot in Medan this afternoon to participate in the Closing Ceremony of PON XXI Aceh North Sumatra 2024 which will be held in the next 2 days."
"The Governor deliberately came 2 days before the end to encourage the Papuan sports ambassadors who are competing," explained the Head of the Papua Communication and Informatics Service, Jeri A. Yudianto, in a release received by the editor
According to Jeri, the Acting Governor is proud of the achievements shown by athletes after the expansion of the province.
In addition, Governor Limbong expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the entire Papuan contingent at PON XXI who persistently brought the good name of Papua.
Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of Papua, in addition to meeting athletes and officials, will also witness several match numbers that still have the potential to get medals such as swimming and chess. ***
