JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government is encouraging participants of the Level II National Leadership Training to become adaptive and integrity-driven leaders who are capable of making sound decisions and taking bold steps to drive change amid increasingly complex challenges in government administration.

The message was delivered by Papua Governor Matius D. Fakhiri through Papua Regional Secretary’s Assistant for Government and Public Welfare, Yohanes Walilo, during the opening of the Level II National Leadership Training organized by the Papua Provincial Government in cooperation with the National Institute of Public Administration of the Republic of Indonesia. The program is attended by government officials from the Papua Provincial Government and regencies across Tanah Papua and was held at the Water Resources Management Agency Hall.

The Governor said technological developments, growing public expectations, the increasing demand for faster public services, and the dynamics of development require government officials with leadership capacity capable of responding effectively to change.

According to Fakhiri, the Level II National Leadership Training should not be viewed merely as an administrative requirement for occupying a government position. Instead, it should serve as a platform to strengthen leadership capacity, competencies, strategic perspectives, and leadership character.

“I hope you will participate seriously in every stage of the learning process. Make the most of this on-campus period to learn, engage in discussions, build networks, and develop ideas that can address real challenges in your respective workplaces,” Yohanes said while delivering the Governor’s remarks.

Participants were also encouraged not to stop at classroom learning but to translate their knowledge into concrete initiatives and innovations in their workplaces. The Governor expects participants to develop breakthroughs through change projects that generate short-, medium-, and long-term impacts.

“These changes must provide tangible benefits to organizations, local governments, stakeholders, and, most importantly, the community,” he said.

Fakhiri emphasized that strengthening the leadership capacity of government officials is an important part of realizing the Papua Provincial Government’s vision: “Realizing a Smart, Prosperous and Harmonious Transformation of Papua – Papua CERAH.”

“Use this opportunity as a process of personal development to become leaders who are not only capable of managing organizations but also able to drive meaningful change and deliver public services that are truly felt by the community,” he said.

He also called on all participants and government officials to continue working together, building public trust, and strengthening collaboration as part of efforts to accelerate development across Tanah Papua. ***
