JAYAPURA – The Papua Provincial Government is strengthening the capacity of public information officers to improve the quality of public information services. The effort is being carried out through training on the management of the Website of Public Information and Documentation Management Officers and the Central Papua Province Information System.

Head of the Papua Provincial Communication and Informatics Office, Jeri Agus Yudianto, said the public’s need for information continues to grow alongside advances in digital technology. The situation requires government officials to be able to manage and present information accurately and effectively.

Jeri made the remarks while opening a training session on the management of the Website and the Central Papua Province Information System in Jayapura on Thursday (September 10, 2026).

According to Jeri, government information management is no longer simply about making information available. Information provided to the public must be accurate, up to date, accessible, easy to understand, and accountable.

“Government information management today is no longer simply about providing information,” Jeri said.

He explained that Public Information and Documentation Management Officers play a strategic role in ensuring that public information services are delivered in accordance with applicable regulations. Their role is also closely linked to efforts to build a transparent and accountable government.

“PPID holds a strategic position in ensuring the implementation of public information transparency,” he said.

Jeri therefore encouraged the training participants to gain a thorough understanding of information management and apply their knowledge in carrying out their government duties. The competence of public officials is a key factor in the quality of information services provided to the public.

He expressed hope that the training would improve information governance within the Central Papua Provincial Government. The knowledge and skills gained are expected to be applied to strengthen government information and communication services. ***
