Provincial Management of Paragliding Papua in term 2019-2023 targets two gold medals at the National Sports Week XX Papua, which will be held in October 2021.
The affirmation was conveyed by the Chairman of Paragliding Papua Province, Amos Yikwa, in his speech after being appointed along with the new board by the Chairman of the Indonesian Aero Sport Federation (FASI) Papua Marsma TNI Budhi Achmadi, M.Sc, represented by the Head of the Silas Papare Air Base Personnel Office, Colonel (Adm) Sunu Sugestino, Friday (11/27/2019), in Sentani, Jayapura Regency.
"Our target in National Sports Week is at least two gold medals, there are 11 athletes currently conducting training center in Central Java," he said.
As for achieving that target, Amos asked for the support of all management, as well as prayers from the Papuan community. Although he knew he would get fierce resistance from Java.
Head of KONI Papua, Dance Nere supported Paragliding Provincial Management to target two gold medals in National Sports Week.
Therefore, in the remaining time of almost a year of preparation for National Sports Week XX, he asked the newly appointed board to work hard so that the athletes could win achievements and make Papua's name in the four-yearly event.
"Because, the achievement did not fall alone from the sky. It's all through training, and of course with quality coaches," he said.
Chairman of FASI Papua Marsma TNI Budhi Achmadi in his speech read by Danlanud of Silas Papare Colonel (Adm) Sunu Sugestino, asked the new board to immediately take concrete steps to improve management performance, especially in organizational coaching and achievement coaching.
He also asked the athletes to prepare themselves immediately, united with the limitations of existing facilities and infrastructure, in order to achieve the best achievements.
"In essence, we hope that this paragliding sport can continue to be developed and grow into a sport that has proud achievements and is able to scent the name of Papua at the national level," he concluded.
