JAYAPURA - Acting Governor of Papua Muhammad Ridwan Rumasukun asked regional heads in districts and cities to maintain security stability ahead of the upcoming 2024 elections.
The regents and mayors are also asked to actively communicate with the Regional Election Commission (KPUD) and the local National Armed and Police Forces to deter any form or effort that has the potential to trigger conflict to disrupt security stability.
"I think maybe the regents and mayors should be prepared (to encourage and maintain security stability ahead of the elections) because this is a national agenda ".
"This means that all parties, both regional heads and related stakeholders must jointly maintain security stability ahead of elections and regional elections. So it can run as expected to produce the best leaders in the district, city, and province, as well as the president," explained Governor Ridwan in Jayapura, Tuesday (7/3/2023).
Meanwhile, related to the implementation of elections and regional elections, Ridwan hopes that there will be no re-election.
"Earlier, we handed over the new KPU Papua office. For this reason, the Papua Provincial Government hopes that the KPU Papua institution can work optimally so that the democratic party runs well ."
"Moreover, there are now eight districts and one city so it should be able to simplify the process of the 2024 regional elections. And of course, we hope that there will be no PSU in the upcoming 2024 regional elections," he said.
On that occasion, the Governor also hoped that all Papuans would help maintain conduciveness in their respective regions so that the implementation of elections and regional elections could run safely and peacefully. ***
